Dr. Stuart Robinson
Clinical Advisor
As a licensed psychologist who specializes in testing and treating adults with Asperger's/Autism/ASD, I never stop being impressed with my patient's talents and gifts, and how they are different, but "different good". I remain frustrated with the misperceptions and limited understanding that persists among the general public, and even among healthcare professionals, who still see autism as "different bad". We need more organizations like On The Spectrum devoted to correcting these misunderstandings.
Dr, Robinson is a licensed psychologist specializing in testing, diagnosing, counseling, and coaching adults with Asperger's/Autism, dyslexia and other learning disorders, ADD/ADHD, visual and auditory processing disorders, language and communication disorders. I also treat anxiety disorders like OCD, panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and social anxiety, as well as sleep disorders. Many of these occur with ADD/ADHD, dyslexia or Asperger's/Autism. I provide remote sessions by cell phone or internet video. I only treat adults. Most of our patients are young women and men having problems at work, in their marriage or other relationships, or who need accommodations for college, graduate school, at work or for professional certifications. Many of our patients have graduated college. I help them with on-the-job challenges, career development, job hunting, and interviewing. I also help adults on the spectrum achieve financial independence, find jobs that match their skills and passions, and become established in their careers. I have an exceptionally talented and skilled support staff. Their efforts have been critical to our success over the years. Our website is www.addanxietyandaspergers.com and the name of our practice is Live More Simply, Inc.
I also taught psychology and advertising at Southern Methodist University and served as Dean of Students, Head of Behavioral Medicine and Ethics at The Medical University of the Americas where I lived on an island off the coast of Belize. I completed my undergraduate training at The University of Virginia and received my master’s degree and doctorate from The Georgia Institute of Technology.
Before starting my clinical psychology practice, I had a 20yr career in marketing and advertising. I operated a national consulting firm named Stuart N. Robinson and Associates, Inc. We served over 300 corporate clients including Texas Instruments, ATARI’s, Time-Warner, American Express, Girl Scouts of America, and others. We helped reposition destination images and developed new tourism markets for Texas, New Mexico, Virginia, San Antonio, New York City, Atlantic City, Memphis and others. We provided the strategic planning for "I Love NY" and "Virginia Is For Lovers" and for similar campaigns. Our projects also included corporate turnarounds and start-ups with me serving as Vice President of Marketing for Greyhound, Inc and for BPAA -- the trade association for the bowling industry -- as Director of Marketing for Holiday Inns and as Head of Market Research and Consumer Psychology for Consumer Products for Texas Instruments. I was married for 24 yrs and have been divorced for 26 yrs. I have two grown sons who I named after Virginia Bourbons – I.W. Harper and Old Taylor – and who I raised on my own. I feel this was the single accomplishment that I am proud of most. Email anytime.
